Its true he did fail the second medical. He tripped over Sean Wright-Phillips and tweaked his nipple

Re: Song deal done?
Can't see why they would have done a full medical when they know he isn't going to be fit for a few weeks still. Most likely more of a check to see where he is at and whether there are any set backs.
Personally given the lack of genuine quality in the squad and what he can offer, I think he is a risk worth taking.

Why don't we just wait for people wearing football kits coming out of Queens Hospital on crutches? Offer them 5 year deals,

Thing is though why would he even be undertaking a full medical on Friday when Sullivan clearly stated via an interview done on Tuesday that he would not pass a medical if it was done now.

Some say he failed a medical others say he wasn't there for a full medical, just a check to see how his surgical repair was healing.

Slaven Bilic gives update on Alex Song’s fitness ahead of Hammers move

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic hopes Alex Song will be fit enough to join the Hammers squad after the international break.

The midfielder is set to arrive from Barcelona when he passes a medical as the club agree terms with the Spanish side and the player.

Bilic is now hoping to get Song as fit as possible and hopefully returning against Newcastle in September.

“A few weeks time I think,” Bilic said.

“It is not tomorrow of course, maybe after the international break but we will see how he goes.

“His rehab is part of his pre-season so that helps in terms of running and so on.

“He is a risk. Every player is a risk.

“He was on our list from the start of the transfer window. We wanted to lower the risk by waiting for a bit.

“From the reports, not from me watching him, he is doing really well, he is ahead of schedule.

“I said before he was ahead of schedule. I knew it was a risk, but based on the reports, all the risk has basically gone.”

Song, like West Ham, struggled towards the second half of last season and Bilic is wary of that happening again.

“We were a bit lucky in the first part of the season,” he said.

“We were gaining confidence, winning games with a little bit of luck. Then you are fourth and of course you play better, confidence.

“Then in the second half of the season you were unlucky. Those shots were just not going in.

“A few of those results and when you are safe, you maybe lose that 5 per cent that you don’t notice.

“You don’t notice because you are not in the red zone.”

Re: Song deal done?
Anyone know the real reason for Song's dramatic drop in form post Xmas...

Was he carrying an injury...tactics...pissed off with BFS...or what ???

Is the current condition that's holding up his signing...Floating Bone Chips in his knee...???
